Automatic doors Coega: supply, installation and repairs

Automatic sliding and swing pedestrian entrances for the Coega Special Economic Zone and Port of Ngqura area, and the Struandale, Neave and Deal Party industrial belt: staff, visitor, office and canteen doors.

Coega is a large special economic zone next to the Port of Ngqura, with manufacturing, logistics, energy and support businesses, while Struandale, Neave and Deal Party form Gqeberha’s older industrial and automotive belt closer to town. Automatic doors Coega sites use are pedestrian entrances on industrial and logistics buildings, many of them new, on open ground exposed to wind and dust.

This page explains what drives the specification for automatic doors Coega and the northern industrial belt need, and what to send us for a quotation. Places named here describe the area. They are not a client list.

Pedestrian entrances only

We automate the doors people use: staff entrances, visitor receptions, admin buildings, canteens and change rooms. We do not supply loading-bay doors, high-speed doors, roller shutters or gates.

Automatic doors Coega facilities use are specified for shift-change peaks, dust and impact from trolleys and pallet jacks, with robust running gear, access control for staff and service intervals set on cycles. See automatic warehouse doors.

Automatic doors Coega: what we supply, install and repair

People search for this work in different words: automatic doors Coega, automatic sliding doors Coega, automatic glass doors, automatic door installers, automatic door repairs Coega or door automation. It is the same team and the same operators either way, with 24 months on the operator.

We supply and install sliding, telescopic, swing, revolving and hermetic doors, carry out repairs on any brand and service entrances on a planned cycle. Pedestrian entrances only: no garage doors, gates, roller shutters, door closers or private homes.

New builds in the SEZ

Many Coega buildings are new, built by a main contractor to a programme. On those projects the entrance is decided on the drawing: the header, the clear opening, the floor level, power and access-control cabling.

We provide the header detail and requirements in writing early so the other trades build to them, and we install and commission to the programme. The MC-125 is surface mounted and needs a solid, level header. Supplier documents for tenders are available on request through our contact page.

Wind, dust and open ground

Coega sits on open, exposed ground near the coast. Wind loads leaves as they open, and wind-blown dust and sand clouds sensors and works into tracks. Salt from the sea adds corrosion.

Exposed entrances are specified with canopies or vestibules where possible, sliding rather than swing doors, sensors in protected positions and corrosion-resistant fixings, and serviced more often than inland doors.

Struandale, Neave and Deal Party

Closer to town, the older industrial and automotive belt at Struandale, Neave and Deal Party has factories, component suppliers and distribution sites, many with automatic doors that have been running for years.

Where the leaves and frame are sound but spares for the old operator are hard to find, we fit a new operator, sensors and running gear and keep the doorway. See service and modernisation.

Controlled staff entrances

Many Coega facilities control who comes and goes, with card readers, turnstiles and sometimes two doors interlocked so only one opens at a time.

The MC-125 supports two-door interlocking and electric locks with multiple access-control inputs. We wire the operator, lock and access control as one system and agree the behaviour with the site’s security team. See automatic door access control.

Older doors in the industrial belt

Automatic doors Coega and Struandale sites have run for years often show the same pattern: running gear worn by dust, controllers whose spares are hard to find and fixings loosened by years of wind.

An upgrade keeps the doorway and replaces the drive, sensors and running gear, and it is the right moment to replace corroded or wind-worked fixings. Doing that during planned work is cheap; finding it during a failure is not.

The systems we install in Coega

Most automatic doors Coega buildings need come down to two operators, both imported and assembled at Laser Park and tested to one million operating cycles: the MC-125 sliding door operator, supplied from R27 590 excluding VAT, and the MCW-100 swing door operator, supplied from R15 900 excluding VAT, as published on our sister company Coetz.

The finished price depends on the leaves, glass, header, sensors, locking and access control, all quoted per site. See our automatic door prices guide and sliding vs swing door guide.

Every entrance also gets a defined power-failure behaviour, agreed with the building and its fire strategy; see automatic doors and load shedding.

Choosing the right entrance in Coega

Exposed staff and visitor entrances are sliding doors with canopies or vestibules. Admin buildings use sliding doors at the front and swing doors inside. Canteens and change rooms use hands-free sliding doors built for high cycle counts.

Controlled entrances use interlocked doors with access control.

Common faults on automatic doors Coega

On new buildings, faults often trace back to the build: an uneven header, a floor guide set before the final floor, or untested access-control wiring. On older belt sites it is wear, dust and corrosion.

Wind adds doors that slow or reverse in gusts. See automatic door speed.

Working on site in Coega

SEZ and port-area sites have access control at the gate, inductions, PPE and permits. New builds run to a main contractor’s programme with safety files and daily access rules.

We provide our safety documentation and method statements before travelling, follow the site’s rules and keep a working entrance throughout on operating sites.

Servicing automatic doors Coega

Exposed industrial entrances are serviced more often than our six-month standard, with intervals set from the cycle counter and visits batched with other Eastern Cape sites.

Every visit ends with a written record, and several doors or buildings can sit under one service level agreement. Safety settings are re-checked on every visit; see automatic door safety requirements and the South African Bureau of Standards.

  • Our technicians are trained on our own operators and on other manufacturers’ operators. See automatic door technician.

  • A photograph of the header and ceiling above the door.
  • The clear opening width and height.
  • Who uses the door and how busy it gets at the worst time of day.
  • The site’s contractor rules, and drawings if it is a new build.
