Specifying an entrance
Most of the job is settled before anything is installed
Most automatic-door problems are decided at specification, not installation. Four things matter more than the rest:
- Clear opening width — size it for your busiest hour, not the daily average
- The header — surface-mounted operators need a solid, level fixing across the span
- Power at the opening — if it is not at the head already, an electrician adds cost
- Access control — decide up front; it changes the wiring, not a bolt-on

We service and repair automatic entrances from any major brand, not only our own, and we hold spares for the MC-125 and MCW-100 so a common failure does not become a six-week wait.
Planned maintenance, breakdown call-outs, sensor and controller upgrades and takeovers of doors another installer fitted are all covered on the servicing page.
Genuine Spare Parts — genuine MC-125 and MCW-100 components, held on the shelf at Laser Park in Johannesburg because that is where the operators are assembled. We also supply parts for entrances built by other manufacturers, and we will tell you whether a part is an original component or a functional equivalent before you order it.

Automatic doors: common questions
What types of automatic doors do you supply?
Sliding, telescopic, swing, revolving and hermetic automatic doors, for commercial and industrial buildings. Which one suits an opening is decided by its clear width, the leaf weight, how much wall there is to park a leaf against and how many people pass through it.
Which operators do you use?
The MC-125 for sliding entrances and the MCW-100 for swing doors. Both are imported and assembled at our Laser Park workshop in Roodepoort, which is why spares for them sit on a shelf in Johannesburg rather than arriving weeks later. Both are tested to one million operating cycles.
What does an automatic entrance cost?
Entry pricing starts at R15 900 for the MCW-100 swing operator and R27 590 for the MC-125 sliding operator, excluding VAT. The figure for a specific opening depends on the width, the leaf weight and configuration, the sensors and safety devices the setting needs, and any work to the existing structure. We quote against an opening we have measured, not from a catalogue.
Who installs and commissions the door?
Our own technicians, or technicians working under our instruction. Our automatic doors are surveyed before they are quoted, and we commission each entrance and demonstrate its operation — including the manual release — before handover.
Do you service doors another company installed?
Yes. Planned maintenance, breakdown call-outs, sensor and controller upgrades and spares, on automatic doors from other manufacturers as well as our own. On equipment we did not install, the first visit is a condition report: we record what is fitted and what is worn before committing to a maintenance interval or a price.
What warranty applies?
24 months on the operator that drives the door. Wearing parts, glass, and damage from impact or misuse sit outside it, as does an entrance that has not been maintained on an interval appropriate to its duty. We set that out at quotation rather than leaving it to be assumed.
Where do you install automatic doors?
We supply, install, commission and service automatic doors nationwide from our Johannesburg base. Same-day call-outs are available in Gauteng; elsewhere attendance is scheduled.
What happens during load shedding?
With a battery backup fitted, automatic doors keep operating through a slot. Without one it goes to the state chosen for the building — fail-open, so the opening stays passable, or fail-secure, so it holds until somebody uses the manual release. That choice belongs to whoever is responsible for the building, and we ask it before installation rather than assuming.
