This site
Using this website
- You may browse, download and print pages, brochures and specification sheets for your own use or for a project you are specifying.
- You may not scrape or republish our content, drawings or specifications, or use the site in a way that damages it or interferes with anyone else’s use of it.
- Technical figures, drawings and photographs on this site are published to help you specify. They describe our systems in general; the specification that governs your job is the one written on your quotation.
- We may change or withdraw any part of the site, including products and published figures, without notice.
Quotations
Quotations and site visits
- A quotation is valid for the period stated on it. Where no period is stated, ask us to confirm the figure before you rely on it.
- Most quotations go out within two working days of us receiving the opening size and a photograph. Where a site survey is needed first, that adds time and we will say so.
- Quotations are based on the information supplied to us. Where we have quoted from photographs and dimensions rather than our own survey, the figure is confirmed after measuring, because a structural opening sometimes differs from what a photograph suggests.
- We sometimes charge for a site visit, depending on what the visit involves. We tell you before we attend, not afterwards. We do not price revolving or hermetic entrances without seeing them.
- A quotation is not an offer to contract on any terms other than these.
Orders
Orders, acceptance and changes
- A contract comes into existence when you accept a quotation in writing and we confirm that acceptance.
- Changes requested after acceptance — to size, configuration, finish, controls or activation — are quoted as a variation before we proceed.
- Where equipment has been ordered in or a leaf has been built to your specification, a cancellation may carry a cost. We will tell you what that cost is rather than applying it silently.
Pricing
Prices, VAT and payment
- Prices are quoted in South African Rand and exclude VAT unless the quotation states otherwise. VAT is added at the applicable South African rate.
- Payment terms, including any deposit, are those recorded on your quotation or in your account agreement with us.
- Ownership of equipment passes once we have received payment in full. Risk passes on delivery to site or on completion of installation, whichever happens first.
- Published price guidance on this website is indicative. The figure that applies to your job is the one on your quotation.
Programme
Lead times and programme
- Lead times are confirmed in writing on acceptance. Dates given before that are estimates offered in good faith.
- Our programme assumes the opening is ready, that power is available at the head where the system requires it, and that we have access to work. Where site is not ready, we will re-schedule rather than force an installation that will not commission properly.
- Delays outside our control — including power interruptions, shipping, and access restrictions imposed on site — may move a date. We tell you when a date changes.
Installation
Installation, commissioning and handover
- We supply, install, commission and service automatic entrance systems. Installation is carried out by our own technicians or by technicians working under our instruction.
- We commission the door on completion and demonstrate its operation, including how to release or isolate it.
- Builder’s work, structural alteration, electrical supply to the entrance, and making good finishes are excluded unless the quotation says otherwise.
- You remain responsible for the structure the entrance is fixed to, and for the building’s own fire, escape and access-control strategy.
Products
Product information and specifications
- The MC-125 sliding door operator and MCW-100 swing door operator are imported and assembled at our Laser Park facility in Johannesburg.
- Performance figures published on this site are taken from the manufacturer’s documentation. Where a figure is a test result, we describe it as one — for example, the MC-125 is tested to one million cycles. A test result is not a service-life guarantee, and actual life depends on traffic, environment and maintenance.
- We do not publish a certification or testing claim that we cannot evidence. Where a requirement applies to your opening, we will tell you which one and what documentation we can provide.
Warranty
Warranty
- The MC-125 and MCW-100 carry a 24-month (two-year) warranty. The warranty that applies to your installation is the one recorded on your quotation and invoice.
- The warranty covers defects in the equipment as supplied and installed by us. It does not cover damage from impact, misuse, unauthorised alteration, power events, or lack of maintenance.
- Consumable and wear items — including belts, rollers, floor guides and seals — are replaced as part of servicing rather than under warranty.
- A service level agreement runs alongside the product warranty. It neither replaces nor extends it. See our service level agreement page.
- Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any right available to you under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 or other applicable South African law.
Servicing
Servicing and service agreements
- Servicing, callouts and spare parts are covered on our servicing and spare parts pages.
- We service and repair other manufacturers’ equipment as well as our own. Where we take over a door somebody else installed, we report its condition before committing to a maintenance interval.
- Response times, visit frequency and what is included are defined in your service level agreement, not in these terms.
Liability
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by South African law, and without limiting your rights under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008, we are not liable for consequential loss, loss of business, loss of profit, or loss of trading arising from a fault, a delay, or an entrance being out of service. Our liability is limited to repairing or replacing the affected equipment, or refunding what was paid for it, at our discretion.
Intellectual property
Intellectual property
- The content of this website — text, drawings, diagrams, photographs, brochures, layout, and the MC Automations name and logo — belongs to us or is used with permission.
- You may share links to our pages and quote short extracts with attribution. You may not republish, resell or systematically extract our content or specifications without our written permission.
Privacy
Privacy and cookies
How we collect and handle personal information is set out in our Privacy Policy. This site sets cookies for analytics and advertising only where you have accepted them; you can change that choice at any time using the cookie settings link in the footer.
Updates
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The version published here when you accept a quotation is the version that applies to that contract. The date at the top of this page shows when it last changed.
Jurisdiction
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any dispute arising from the use of this website or from work we carry out is subject to the jurisdiction of the South African courts.

Plain-language guide
A plain-language guide to these terms and conditions
This guide is explanatory only. It is not part of the agreement, and where anything here differs from the terms and conditions set out above, the clauses above apply.
Why these terms and conditions exist
An automatic entrance involves a quotation, an order, equipment, site work and a warranty, and each of those stages can go wrong in a way that costs somebody money. These terms and conditions set out who is responsible for what at each stage, so that neither side has to rely on memory or goodwill when something unexpected happens on site.
Quotations
A quotation states the scope, the exclusions and how long the figure stands. Under these terms and conditions a quotation is an offer, not a contract: nothing is ordered and no date is held until the quotation is accepted in writing. If site conditions turn out to differ from what the quotation assumed, that difference is raised before work continues rather than absorbed quietly.
Orders and lead times
An order is accepted when we confirm it in writing. Lead times given at that point are estimates based on supply at the time of the order, and these terms and conditions do not turn an estimate into a guarantee. Where a delay becomes likely we say so as soon as we know, because a hidden delay on an entrance usually means a hole in a shopfront.
Installation and site conditions
Installation assumes a structurally sound opening, a suitable power supply and reasonable access. The terms and conditions state what the building provides and what we bring. Where the opening is out of square, the header cannot carry the load, or the power supply is unsuitable, that is reported and quoted rather than worked around.
Payment and ownership
The payment terms are stated in the quotation and repeated in these terms and conditions. Equipment remains our property until it has been paid for in full, which is a standard protection and not a comment on any particular customer.
Warranty
The warranty is 24 months on the operator. Wear parts and glass are treated separately, and damage caused by impact, vandalism, misuse or by work carried out by somebody else is excluded. These terms and conditions do not describe any product as maintenance-free, and no clause here promises a response time we have not agreed with you in writing.
Servicing
Servicing is a separate agreement. Where you take out servicing with us, the interval is set against the entrance’s real cycle count, and the scope of each visit is recorded in a report. Nothing in these terms and conditions obliges you to service the entrance through us, although a serviced door lasts longer than an unserviced one.
Liability
The limits of liability are set out in the clauses above. In plain terms, we are responsible for our own work and for the equipment we supply, and we are not responsible for losses that arise from how the building is used or from work done by others on the same entrance.
Your statutory rights
Nothing in these terms and conditions reduces the rights given to consumers by South African law, including the Consumer Protection Act where it applies. Where a clause here and the law disagree, the law wins.
If something goes wrong
Tell us in writing, with photographs if the entrance is faulty. These terms and conditions ask that disputes come to us first so they can be answered and, where we are at fault, fixed. Most entrance disputes turn out to be a setting, a sensor or a part, and those are resolved on site far more quickly than in correspondence.

Questions about these terms and conditions
Do these terms and conditions apply to every order?
Yes. Unless we have signed a separate written agreement with you, these terms and conditions apply to every quotation, order, installation and service visit we carry out.
Can the terms and conditions be changed for a project?
They can, but only in writing and only before the order is accepted. A project agreement, a framework contract or an amended payment arrangement all override these terms and conditions to the extent stated in that document.
How long does a quotation stand?
The validity period is printed on the quotation itself. Once it lapses, the figure is re-checked against current supply rather than honoured automatically, because equipment pricing moves with the exchange rate.
What happens if the site is not ready?
We report it and re-schedule. Under these terms and conditions an abortive visit caused by site conditions may be charged, which is why access, power and a clear opening are confirmed before a technician travels.
Who owns the equipment before it is paid for?
We do. Ownership passes on full payment, which is standard commercial practice and is stated plainly in the terms and conditions above rather than buried in a footnote.
Does the warranty cover the whole entrance?
No. The warranty is 24 months on the operator. Glass, wear parts and third-party hardware are covered separately, and the terms and conditions set out what falls outside the warranty altogether, such as impact damage and unauthorised work.
What if I want somebody else to service the door?
That is your choice, and nothing in these terms and conditions prevents it. Where another company works on the entrance, we are responsible for our own workmanship and for the equipment we supplied, but not for the consequences of that work.
Which law applies?
South African law, and the consumer protections in it apply where the customer is a consumer as defined in the legislation. These terms and conditions do not attempt to contract out of rights the law gives you.
How these terms and conditions work on a real project
Before the order
Nearly every dispute we have seen on an entrance project traces back to something that was assumed rather than written down. That is what these terms and conditions are built to prevent. The quotation states the opening it was priced against, the equipment it includes and the items it excludes, and the order confirmation repeats them. If the drawing you gave us and the wall the installers find are different, that difference is visible immediately instead of surfacing as an argument about scope three weeks later.
During installation
Site work is where a schedule meets reality. These terms and conditions set out what has to be true before a technician travels: access to the opening, a suitable power supply, and a structure that can carry the equipment. Where one of those is missing, we report it and re-schedule rather than improvising a fix that shortens the life of the entrance. Attendance that is aborted because of site conditions can be charged, and the quotation says so plainly rather than hiding it in small print.
At handover
Commissioning ends with the settings written down: opening and closing speed, hold-open time, force and the sensor layout. That record matters under these terms and conditions because it establishes the state the entrance was handed over in. If the door is adjusted afterwards by somebody else and then behaves badly, the record shows what changed.
After handover
The warranty runs for 24 months on the operator. Making a claim is deliberately simple: tell us what the entrance is doing, send a photograph if you can, and we will attend. Where the fault is ours, we fix it under warranty. Where it is impact damage, an electrical supply problem or work done by another contractor, we will say so and quote the repair. These terms and conditions do not oblige you to service the entrance through us, but they do exclude damage caused by neglect, and an entrance that is never serviced eventually qualifies.
If you are a consumer
Where you are a consumer as defined in South African law, the protections in that legislation apply on top of these terms and conditions. Nothing in this document is intended to reduce them, and where a clause and the law conflict, the law prevails.
